GOOD NEWS and HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!

My Aunt is awake now and so far all of her brain scans have come back looking pretty good so God is hearing our prayers! I am so THANKFUL and ask that you please continue to keep her and their family in your prayers. She is still at the Hospital having a few more tests run to make sure she is ok to go home. So she still needs as many prayers as possible!

I am also very excited about Molly's baby shower at work today! A lady at my work, Ms. Donna, makes cakes (very yummy cakes!!!) and made the prettiest cake for today! I will take pics and post them soon!

Also...I want to wish my WONDERFUL HUSBAND A VERY HAPPY BIRTHDAY TODAY!!!

We are going to celebrate tonight with family at our favorite mexican restaurant and then if the ice holds off we are going to go see Edge of Darkness. Tomorrow we are gonna relax (and from the looks of it...maybe play in some snow!) and then Sunday we are heading to Elberton after church to celebrate with my side of the family. I'm looking forward to an exciting weekend!

Yea for answered prayers and HAPPY BIRTHDAYS!!!

URGENT PRAYER REQUEST!!!

Dear Readers...

Please say a prayer for my aunt, Amy Roberts. She has been battling Multiple Sclerosis for many years and today she has had some type of seizure or stroke (we are not sure exactly yet) and is currently being rushed to the Hospital by ambulance. She was found non-responsive and of course our family is extremely concerned. Please say a prayer for her right now...

I pray that God will pour out his UNDESCRIBABLE peace over my Uncle and his daughter and give my Aunt the strength she needs to pull through this. He is in control!

Thanks in advance for your prayers!

Yea for a might God who hears our prayers!

"Will you be my date?"

My lovely husband surprised me today with a phone call asking me out on a date! We haven't had an official "date night" in awhile so I was thrilled and now I'm very excited about our special night! We're going out to eat and to see a movie...the works! There's nothing more I'd rather do than spend a night out with my fantastic husband! So yes...Trav...I'd be happy to be your date!!!

Bummer!

Well...

It is dry, airy, and NOT WHAT I HAD HOPED FOR! Bummer! I'm gonna have to spend an afternoon with my Granny to try to figure out what I keep doing wrong! But you know what they say...third time's a charm!

I'm gonna study up and try again soon!

But at least I have a great stand mixer!

Keep your fingers crossed...

I just attempted to make a pound cake with my new stand mixer Mom and Dad gave me for Christmas! I blended the butter and sugar like it said until nice and fluffy, added one egg at a time and blended well, and carefully added the flour and vanilla, and lastly, said a quick little prayer before I popped it in the oven. I hope a beautiful, moist, yummy pound cake pops out of my oven in about 45 more minutes! I'll let you know how it turns out!!!

Yea for trying REALLY hard to bake an edible cake!

SO PROUD OF MYSELF....

I just patted myself on the back because I made a HUGE accomplishment today! I finally cleaned out my "junk room" and I COULDN'T FEEL BETTER!!! It's amazing what getting up and doing something productive can do for a person! And if you had seen my "junk room" before your jaw would be on the ground right now because it was a VERY DAUNTING TASK...but I DID IT!!! Yea!!!

I have so many other tasks I want to finish up around the house so I hope I can get a few more done before the day is over...that involves cleaning out some closets...YUCK!...but I know how happy I'll be to get it done! And then the job is TRYING TO KEEP IT THAT WAY!!!

Well...back to work...hope you've had a nice day too!

Yea for feelin' like a brand new woman!!!

Fun with the Fam!

Last night Molly and I rode to Elberton after work to see our little sister, Ali, cheer at the highschool basketball game! We had lots of fun and Ali and her squad did a great job! Afterwards we went to LaFagota for dinner and laughed when the waiter rudely begged for a tip before we even had a chance to put it on the table...ummm.. RUDE...enough said! Anyway, we went back to the house for a litle while and Brian read me some of his "Pinkerton" book (his reading skills have REALLY improved....I was SO PROUD!) and had a moment of silence for one of Brian's hermit crabs who he said "passed out"....he actually passed AWAY but that was the cutest thing I'd heard all week!

In other news, I'm becoming quite obsessed with buying cute, pink, and cuddly outfits for Makayla and I may need an intervention soon! haha! That child is gonna need three closets by the time she's three months old!

In a few minutes I'm taking Tinkerbell to get her rabies update at the pet vac...first time going there so I hope it goes well. Tonight is open gym at the Chruch so a group of us are meeting for basketball, games, and fellowship! Fun!

By the way...YEA FOR FRIDAY!!!

Inventory....

I just got home from work and wanted to make a list of my "trash" that could be your "treasure"...

So far I've got:

1. a pair of light brown "cowgirl" style boots, a little scuffed, size 6 1/2 or 7 ladies I think
2. a purple hooded sweatshirt (juniors med)
3. a candle holder (gold and ivory)
4. a sugared cranberry candle that's only been burned once...just don't need it
5. artificial potted daisy plant (yellow) about the height of a computer screen

There is probably no one out there who wants any of my junk...lol...but just in case!

Turn your trash into someone's TREASURE!

Hi out there!

For all who know me...you know that I am very thrifty and I HATE seeing things thrown away or going to waste. I have been weeding some unneeded things from my home (trying to de-clutter!) and have been looking for good homes for these items. The stuff usually ends up at Haven of Rest where I know it's going to a good cause and likely going to be used by someone who really needs it! I also noticed that there are a few things I actually need so before purchasing any of the items I'm recruiting your help!

I am in need of:

1. a large serrated bread knife
2. Spreaders (like the kind you would use to spread butter, dips, ect...
3. a book shelf (or two)- any color or style would work

Before I go out and buy these items I just thought I would check with my friends to see if you have any of these items not being used or likely to be trashed or given to goodwill anytime soon. If so...please let me know. And if there's anything you need...please ask...never know what I might not need that you can use!

Yea for turning TRASH into TREASURE!

CARE

Last night Trav and I attended the CARE group at church for the first time. Our Sunday school class decided that we would attend the second Tuesday meeting of each month as a group to reach out to couples that are on our roll but aren't attending and to reach out to other couples in the community in our age group. We really had a great time and we had a great turn out! We dined on chili and sandwiches and yummy desserts and then had some prayer time and began to plan some outreach strategies for our class. We are planning a Valentine's Day Banquet for Feb. 13th with a meal and speaker so if you and your hubby would love a yummy meal and encouraging word on Valentine's day....PLEASE LET ME KNOW....and we'd love to have you!!! We are also having open gym night a couple friday nights a month (starting this friday!) where people can play basketball or games (us ladies are bringing some board games and other fun stuff!) so we'd love for anyone to join us there too!

Yea for having FUN and CARING about others!!!

Hope everyone has a WONDERFUL WEDNESDAY!
(Can't wait to see some more American Idol tonight!)

Yesterday was my sister Nikki's 22nd BIRTHDAY! I love you Nikki and I'm very excited about all the WONDERFUL thing this next year holds for you like....YOUR WEDDING!!! And I'm looking forward to celebrating with you tomorrow in Elberton!

Last night we had a wonderful dinner with Ken, Lynn, Patrick, Bette and Nun Nun to celebrate Patrick and Ken's birthday! Spaghetti, salads, garlic bread...THE WORKS! And boy was it delicious! But as delicious as the food was...I enjoyed the company even more! We chatted for what seemed like hours and I just had a great time hearing funny stories from the past and looking forward to making new memories in the future!

I also just ate a banana with peanut butter "slathered" on it and it was like a little piece of heaven...I'm not sure why is was so good but IT WAS! I wanna eat another one but at the risk of being a pig I'm gonna TRY to pass...

Lastly for this post, I had an amazing lunch with my friends Ann and Jessica today. We met at Panera Bread (along with everyone else from Anderson..lol...it was THAT crowded!)and I got my FAV...French onion soup!...and we had fun sharing stories about our cats and getting to know each other better. I am looking forward to another "friend day" very soon!Yea!

I guess I'm done with my ramblings for now and I hope everyone has a GREAT day of rest and Worship tomorrow!!!

Please FREEZE!

I am so jealous right now! I just got off the phone with my little sister, Ali, and guess what....they have already closed her school for tomorrow and she only lives about 45 mintues from me. And worst of all...I've yet to see any snowmen popping up in my neck of the woods...BOO HOO HOO!

But we still have a couple hours for the white stuff to come so I'm holding out hope!

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE FREEZE!

P.S. I will also accept ice and/or sleet if it means a delay or even better...a day off!

I'm ashamed to say that we finally got our Christmas tree put up today! I had already taken all the ornaments off but Trav said if he had to look at that tree one more night he was gonna scream so my sweet hubby spend his afternoon off putting away all the last boxes of Christmas decor and yes...the tree. So long 'til next year...

Well, in closing I'll say two things....

1. ROLL TIDE ROLL!!!
2. HAPPY 22ND BIRTHDAY PRADA!

Yea!!!

AND ONE MORE THING...

Please, please, please....FREEZE!!!

My "cruise box!"

I'm getting ready for my cruise in February by filling up a box with stuff I find on clearance 'til it's time to go! So far I've found:

1. a red and white stripped tank (maybe for over my bathing suit)- $1.50
2. a new wallet that is tie-dyed purple and pink- $3.00
3. strap away bra strap hiders for tank tops and dresses- $1.00
4. pink flip flops- $1.50

I'm gonna be ready to CRUISE people!

Yea!

God really does speak!

Just last night I was laying in bed and talking with Travis. I had been having this really pesty, reoccuring thought about how life is so short and feeling a little "despair" I guess you would say. As I talked to Trav about it tears began to roll down my cheeks. Luckily, I have a husband who hugged me and reminded me that our life is a gift to be enjoyed daily and that thinking of it being "short" just takes away from the enjoyment and blessings of the day we are living in today! And he also reminded me that God's design for life is PERFECT and our eternity with him will be PERFECT too! Today I was still praying about how I'd been feeling about all of this and came across this at Crossword.com as I was looking for a devotion for the day. God will always answer when you call on him!

Becoming Today
By: Amy Carroll

"Teach us to number our days aright, that we may gain a heart of wisdom."

Psalm 90:12 (NIV)

Devotion:

As my plane landed, I wondered if she'd be there. The retreat weekend simply wouldn't be the same without her. I would miss her encouraging looks as I spoke and the women of her church would certainly have hearts that ached with her absence. All year I had thought about the words that she had spoken the previous fall, and I needed to ask her more probing questions.

She had a secret that I longed to know. There were many women from the group who I wanted to ask about, but as the event coordinator and I waited at the luggage carousel, I started with my most important question, "Will Ruth Clark be coming?" My heart rejoiced as I heard the reply that was given with a smile, "Ruth has had a lot of health problems this year, but she'll be there!"

Entering the room at the retreat center, my eyes searched for Ruth among the small clusters of chatting women. I found her dear, smiling face quickly and headed to greet her. She opened her arms wide, hugged me and said, "I've been praying for you all year." After asking me to wait for a minute, Ruth opened her purse, took out a well-worn pink book full of small cards and began to leaf through it. Finally, she found the card for which she had been searching, and pulled it out. On it was a black-and-white photocopy of a picture of me with my name written underneath. She explained, "Each day I use this book to remember who to pray for. I put you in my book after the retreat last year, and I've prayed for you every day."

I looked at her face, creased with crows' feet and laugh lines, the product of many wide smiles and tender glances. I took in her white hair, the walker beside her and her comfortable shoes and had a single thought—"Beautiful!"

Ruth is the woman that I want to be when age has settled onto my features and slowed my steps. Her beauty is an internal light that has grown brighter with time and experience rather than being extinguished. Knowing Ruth has changed my life and set me on a journey. When we first met, I immediately knew she had something I wanted.

After listening to this delightful woman talk for a while, I asked her, "What is your secret? How have you continued to grow in the Lord, stay positive and exude joy?" She answered quickly and confidently, "Be today who you want to be tomorrow."

Profound!

So, how can you and I apply Ruth's advice in our lives while we're still younger women? We can ask to God to reveal our own sins and flaws, repent of them and ask for His mercy to start living differently today. He's given me a very personal and specific list of where to start! I can ask God's help to stop my tendency toward complaining about difficult circumstances and develop the habit of praising Him for molding my character through trials and tests. I can ask Him for the spiritual fruit of self-control so that I resist flying off the handle in a grumpy, hormone-fueled fit for no good reason. I can ask Him to stop my free-flowing river of words and help me listen to others compassionately before I speak. I could go on, but you're getting the picture. Are you starting to make a list of your own?

Although thinking about our own aging and watching loved ones age sometimes generates fear, we can face the future with tremendous hope and faith when we know that we can begin shaping our tomorrows today. I truly believe that becoming the woman today that we want to be tomorrow is the key to becoming the woman of grace, love and wisdom in our 70s and 80s that we so desire to be.

Dear Lord, I long to be a growing, godly older woman until my very last breath. Help me to begin today in developing the character and spiritual disciplines that I'll need to follow You victoriously throughout my life. In Jesus' Name, Amen.

Power Verses:

Isaiah 46:4, "Even to your old age and gray hairs I am he, I am he who will sustain you. I have made you and I will carry you; I will sustain you and I will rescue you." (NIV)

Psalm 71:18, "So even to old age and gray hairs, O God, do not forsake me, until I proclaim your might to another generation, your power to all those to come." (ESV)

Happy New Years!!!

It's Monday!

Monday's are hard to get SUPER excited about but I am trying to stay motivated today!

Finally got about 3/4 of my Christmas stuff put up (Thanks for all the help Trav!) and got a letter written at work that I've been needing to do for awhile now! So far the day has been pretty successful! Trav and I are trying to save money by making our own lunch everyday so I decided to sit and make a quick post while my french fries are baking! Only 120 calories for 16 french fries...that's enough to say YEA about!

My co-worker and I are going out "recruiting" for new foster families today so say a little prayer for us that we will have some success there also!

Oh...and I have tried my bronzer and eye shadow from Victoria's Secret and loved both! They were also very easy to deal with when returning the gloss I didn't like...that's a plus and another reason to shop there again soon...especially when they are having such good clearance deals!

Have a MARVELOUS MONDAY!

Product Review!

If you didn't know...

Victoria's Secret is having their SEMI-ANNUAL sale right now and they have lots of cosmetics 75% off!

I got a Christian Siriano for VS makeup bronzer/highlighter trio for $4 (lucky for me because I had just ran out of my bronzer!), Beauty Rush Soothing lip balm in Soft Petal for $1.75 and Beauty Rush sparkling shadow in Purple Dazzle. I have already tried the lip balm and I really liked it. It's light pink, sheer, and shiny and is pretty thick so it feels good on your lips. The only thing that I would say I don't really like about it is the scent. It doesn't really have one...just a sorta waxy scent. Almost like a "chemically" scent so I think I'll be taking that one back. I'll let you know how the shadow and bronzer work as soon as I use them!

I just took a break from watching Revolutionary Road and painting my nails to bake some french fries and make this post...I just LOVE days like this!

Today we were treated to lunch at Red Lobster for Travis's great uncle Bill's 80th birthday! We had a great time seeing people we rarely get to see and enjoying a good time of fellowship with each other. And a free lunch at Red Lobster is NEVER a bad thing! I'm looking forward to posting some pics from New Year's Eve and I'm REALLY looking forward to all the exciting things that 2010 will hold! I'll get a little niece and a brother-in-law in 2010! Yea!

Hope everyone enjoys their first Saturday night of 2010!!!
