{Homemade Laundry Detergent Tutorial!}

Ready to make your own LAUNDRY DETERGENT???

OK! Here we go....

First take a bar of Fels Naptha soap (I found it at my local publix or you could use Dove or Ivory bar soap but you won't get the same stain fighting power that the Fels Naptha provides) and grate half of it into a medium size sauce pan.

Be careful as you grate the soap..see my battle scar?

Then...fill your saucepan with water until all the grated soap is completely covered.

Then place the saucepan over low heat and stir occasionally until all the soap is completely melted.

This is what is will look like when all the soap has melted and disolved into a yellow liquid...

Go ahead and measure 1/2 cup of washing soda and sit to the side until needed.

Fill your bucket up with 2.5 gallons of HOT water...

Then pour your saucepan full of melted soap into the bucket of water and stir.

After pouring in the liquid soap, pour in the 1/2 cup of washing soda and continue to stir.

It will be really sudsy like this....
And...TA-DA! You're done! Stir well and cover. I use about 1 cup per load. It will thicken as it sits but is ready to use immediately. You can double this recipe and make it in a 5 gallon bucket, too. I just happened to have this smaller bucket that worked better for me.

One bar of Fels Naptha soap will make enough detergent to last about 5-6 months and one box of the washing soda will last for a couple years! So cheap and your house will smell good for days! It makes my clothes soft and fragrant and cleanses very well! I wish I knew who to give credit to for this laundry detergent recipe but I found it randomly online one day.

Try it for yourself...your wallet and laundry will thank you!

Love,

Laura
